Quicken Loans Named #1 Place to Work in Metro Detroit by the Detroit Free Press

Quicken Loans Voted Best Place to Work by Detroit Free Press - Quicken Loans CareersWe did it. We're #1.

The best place to work in Southeast Michigan. We love that title and we'll wear it with pride.

This past weekend, the Detroit Free Press released its list of top places to work in Metro Detroit. And we're the top baby. We're the cat's meow. The real McCoy. We're #1. We did it.

You can view a really cool picture gallery here (featuring DIFF contributor Jen Romanowksi).

My favorite article in the series is this one - Little Things Matter to Employees - featuring Quicken Loans PR Team member Jennifer Rass.

Congratulations to everyone at Quicken Loans for this great honor. We truly are a great place to work.

Take it from me.

Happy Veterans Day Message from Quicken Loans CEO Bill Emerson and Veterans Infographic

Va_infographic1-354x1024 Happy Veterans Day.

In honor of America's veterans, Quicken Loans CEO Bill Emerson sent out a great email to all Quicken Loans team members that we wanted to share here.

We also wanted to let everyone know that Quicken Loans will donate $200 to the USO Wounded Warriors program for every closed VA loan applied for between today and Sunday, November 14, 2010.

In addition, we introduced that pretty darn cool VA info graphic today. Get the full version here on Quicken Loans Mortgage News.

So with that, I'll say Happy Veterans Day one more time and let you read Bill's letter, in the original comic sans, of course.

Good Morning Everyone,

Today is Veterans Day, an annual holiday to honor the millions of American men and women who’ve served our country.

The type of service we are talking about has led to the very freedom we enjoy today and was taken on with the full knowledge that the service may cost the ultimate sacrifice.

Goodbye Sparky

Sparky Anderson died today. He went into hospice yesterday and held on for a day.

A baseball legend. One of the greatest coaches ever.

My favorite Detroit coach ever, for sure.

I remember Sparky back in 1984. He was like a king around Detroit back then. A king that everyone loved.

Goodbye Sparky.

Chevrolet Invites Students Nationwide to an ‘Electric’ Education

Here's a pitch from my bud Charlie Kondek over at MS&L. He's given me great stuff to write about over the years and here's something else. In his words:

Chevrolet’s is presenting an educational special about electricy titled "The Power of the Plug: How Electricity Will Change Our World Again".  The web cast covers the properties of electricity, how it is generated and how it can change personal transportation. It is scheduled from 1 to 2 p.m. EST on Nov. 9.

Schools can register now to participate online and watch the presentation live via a video web cast at "The Power of the Plug" Registration. Registration must be completed by 5 p.m. EDT Nov. 5. Teachers who register will receive instructions on how to join the webcast and submit questions live, as well as a lesson plan developed by the General Motors education team. Classrooms that do not pre-register still may access streaming video at http://chevroletvoltage.com or on the Chevrolet Volt Facebook page.
